Analysis of mechanisms and capacity of self-healing in multifunctional polymers

Self-healing polymers are new class of smart materials that have the capability to repair themselves when they are damaged. The PhD work supervised by ICTP-CSIC and DCIM -URJC research groups focuses to synthesis of reversible supramolecular based polyurethane with self-complementary quadruple hydrogen bonding unit’s incorporation as chain-extension. The reversible “chains extension” of low molecular weight could provide materials with self-healing and desirable mechanical property for automotive coating application.
