The research group of ICV-CSIC has successfully prepared nanostructured TiN and TiC films onto dense commercial steels and titanium manufactured by powder metallurgy.
One of our lines of work deals with the manufacture of nanostructured TiN and TiC films by Electrophoretic Deposition. Preliminary results of this work have been published: “Dispersion and stabilization of TiN and TiC nanoparticles in organic suspensions” C. Mendoza, Z. González, Y. Castro and B. Ferrari, Key Engineering Materials vol. 654 (2015) pp 203-207. DOI: 10.4028/www.scientific.net/KEM.654.203
These coatings have been successfully sintered at 1200ºC in vacuum, onto dense commercial steels as well as titanium manufactured by powder metallurgy. The mechanical and electrochemical characterization of these coatings is performed in collaboration with the Group of Powder Technology of the UC3M.
