Dr. Marta Mohedano is a Post-doctoral Humboldt Fellow in the Corrosion and Surface Technology Group, Magnesium Innovation Center, Helmholtz Zentrum Geesthacht (Germany) and she still has an adjunct status in the group of Characterization, Corrosion and Degradation of Materials of Technological Interest (UCM). She received her Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Materials Science and Technology from University Complutense of Madrid (Spain) in 2011, and was awarded with the “Extraordinary doctorate award”. During her doctorate period, she acquired a solid background in various corrosion tests under different simulated environments, in particular in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy technique, and the development of different coatings on Mg alloys. Then, she continued until September 2013 with a post-doctoral position in the same group of Characterization, Corrosion and Degradation of Materials of Technological Interest (UCM). In December 2013 she started her Humboldt Research Fellowship for postdoctoral researchers for a period of 24 months. In the last three years Dr. Mohedano has diversified her research interests by focusing on development of original surface treatments for light alloys (Mg and Ti) using a pioneering PEO process technology and on the study of their corrosion, tribological and bioactive properties. She has contributed to 31 publications and her work has been presented in 20 conferences.
