Gaspar González-Doncel, is PhD in physics, UCM, and research scientist at the Physical Metallurgy Dept. of the National Center for Metallurgical Research (CENIM), belonging the Spanish Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, C.S.I.C.). His research activity centers in the area of Mechanical Properties (microstructure-properties relationship). Main work has focused in the elevated temperature behavior (creep) of aluminum alloys and metal matrix composites (aluminum alloy matrix). Recently, work is oriented to the severe plastic deformation phenomenon underlying the Friction Stir Welding, FSW, process and the determination of residual stresses by diffraction methods (neutrons and synchrotron radiation). The determination of macro and micro-stresses in metal matrix composites and FSW has focused this activity. Is co-author of some 90 publications in SCI journals. H index is H=20.
