Beatriz Sanz is a Doctor in Civil Engineering and works as an Assistant Professor at the MaterIals Science Department of the Technical University of Madrid. She completed her PhD studies in 2014, and has received two awards for her PhD thesis. She also received the award from the Spanish Fracture Group for the best presentation of a non-doctor in the meeting XXV GEF in 2008. She received a grant from the Spanish Council of Science and Education for her PhD studies and for two three-month stages at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, USA, and at the Laboratoire Central des Ponts et Chausées, Paris, France. She works on Fracture Mechanics, covering mechanical characterization of quasi-brittle materials and simulation by finite element models. She also works on accelerated corrosion on reinforced concrete.
