Ms. Beatriz Mingo graduated in Chemistry at the Complutense University of Madrid in 2011. She completed her masters in Materials Science Technology in 2012. Currently she is at her last year of her PhD; her thesis focuses on the characterization and enhancement of the corrosion and wear resistance of aluminium and magnesium alloys prepared by semisolid metal processing for transport applications. Particular interest is given to the development of surface treatments on the studied alloys by anodizing and Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation. She was awarded with a research scholarship by the BritishSpanish Society to complete her academic training in cutting edge 3D characterization techniques at The University of Manchester. The work done so far has provided her with the background required in the field of corrosion to widen the scope of her research. For that reason, she has been actively collaborating in a parallel research line whose aim is to develop new magnesium based materials for biodegradable implant applications. She has contributed to 8 publications and her work has been presented in 4 conferences.
